4 Things to Think About When Looking at Projectors

4 Things to Think About When Looking at Projectors

If you are thinking about getting a projector, you are about to become part of one branch of the electronics elite. Part of a group of people who throw traditional TVs to the wayside in favor of something a little more theater-like.

But, before you go and take your old-fashioned TV set to the curb, slow your roll a little bit. We’re always here to assist – with projectors or any of your electronic needs – so here’s some things to think about to help guide you through the projector buying process.

1. The Projector

It may be a part of the process, but it’s clearly important: The projector itself. Projectors – much like TVs – come in all shapes, sizes, and resolutions. You can get projectors in everything from 720p, 1080p, 4K, and even some with HDR features.

But, if you are getting a projector in 2018, why would you get one that projects quality from 1872? 720p should immediately be cut off your list, and if you want the best quality – and a projector that is going to be a bit future proof – 4K is really the only way to go.

2. Size up the situation

If you are used to shopping for TVs, you are probably accustomed to seeing screens in roughly the same size range. 55” TVs are common, but most people aren’t going to be sitting around 100” TV screens.

Projectors are a whole other world, however, and you could be looking at a screen in the 100” or even 200” size. Yup, you read that right. There’s a reason people go with projectors, after all, and it isn’t just because it gives them another excuse to snack on popcorn while watching movies.

Of course, you have to make sure that you have space for a projector and the screen, so finding a space – and a screen size – that will work for you and your home theater needs is important. And if you aren’t sure which size is best for your space, stop in and our team is ready to help you figure that out!

3. Inside out

While picking out your space, you also have to decide if you want to make an inside home theater or take the adventure outside for more of a drive-in movie feel.

Depending on where you put your projector, the location can influence the size of your screen and what projector you want to get. Outside projection also opens up other screen options – such as projecting on a blank side of your house or something similar – which means you might decide you don’t need a dedicated projector screen after all.

4. Logic the logistics

Shopping for a projector and a screen may be the fun part, but don’t forget about the other details of setting one up. Are you going to mount it from the ceiling? Do you have room to do so? How are you going to hook up your devices to the projector? You’ll have to think about all of these things before you are ready to actually set up your little pet project.

Once you do, get ready to get out there and project your life away. And if you run into any problems, just stop in or give us a call and we’ll help you anyway we can. Just don’t forget to invite us over for movie night, too!
